Hello beautiful people,
My name is Reed, and I have recently (two week ago) moved back to Hawai'i from San Francisco (Mom needs help around the house). No Burning Man for me this year:-( Mom comes first:-)
I was hoping that someone out there might know of, or help me in finding some steady, reliable employment in the Pahoa, Hilo area.
I am a very hard worker, that is dependable, and I am very good with my hands. I am very easy going, and I follow direction very well.
I promise I wont make you look bad if you refer me to a friend or coworker.
I am looking for something in the renewable energy field (solar), but will consider many other avenues of employment.
Much Maholo.
Here is my resume...
Objective
To establish a career in a company wherein my concern for the environment and experiences in construction may be applied and where I can make an important contribution and be part of the solution to the company’s growth and development.
Work Experience
I have worked in various aspects of the (union) heating and air conditioning industry for over eight years. I have a great deal of experience in the design, installation, and servicing of residential, commercial HVAC systems.
While in the Coast Guard attached to Group San Francisco, I was assigned to the ANT (Aids to Navigation) Team on Yeba Buena Island. For two (2) years I was devoted to the maintenance and repair of small aids to navigation (buoys) and lighthouses. Most of my work involved designing, building, trouble shooting, and repairing solar systems. Areas of my responsibilities range from Humbolt Bay to Morro Bay, Farallon Islands to the inland waterways of the central California deltas, and Lake Tahoe.

Re: little help please...

since you live in the pahoa area
have you been to ecstatic dance yet?
besides having an ecstatic dance experience
with a couple hundred other souls
you can make it known to the community
what you say here
by speaking out after dance during community announcements
it is one good way to connect and network with community
ecstatic dance is on sundays at kalani honua on the red road at 10:15 am
www.kalani.com for directions if driving your self
if no wheels then get out to the highway heading to kalapana
stick your thumb out, say your headed to ecstatic dance/kalani
(if they don't know that (!) then seaview/kehena)
and you'll find yourself there :)
other things...
you can check tribune-herald help wanted classifieds here online anytime for free...
craigslist tho i've found it's usually filled mostly with spam in the help wanteds
and general networking like you doing here :)
good luck and welcome home!

Re: little help please...
Thu, August 7, 2008 - 11:09 AMthere may be some ka pilina people... some of us who are part of the hawai'i contingent participating in conclave may be there this sunday and/or the next assuming haven't left for burning man already... that is also something you can include in your speaking out during community announcements, ie 'anyone here part of ka pilina i'd love to meet you so please come speak to me if you'd like' or something similar...
let's see... ecstatic dance is a non-verbal dancing space based upon gabrielle roth's five rhythms of motion (flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical, stillness -- check out her site www.gabrielleroth.com/ ) done puna style. it begin's at 10:15 with a warm-up set that lasts about 45 minutes, followed by a 15 minute welcoming circle where an ecstatic dance steward explains the guidlines followed by an invocation by a community member, followed by a 75 minute main set of music, followed by a period of stillness, shareback, names, and community announcements, usually finishing around 1pm. there is no need to bring anything but yourself, $5 for the suggested donation, an open mind & heart, and leave all expectations at home.
as well there is adults only ecstatic dance on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays beginning 7pm, so this upcoming wednesday the 13th there will be ecstatic dance.
there is a tribe here too: tribes.tribe.net/ecstaticdancehawaii
well i hope that helps a little bit :)
