Re: John Corbins Passing
Fri, August 14, 2009 - 11:10 PMThe following is what was just put out on our announce list:
Sadly, John Corbin passed away on Thursday afternoon. He was a dear friend and a great person. It is amazing how fast it all happened, John felt the first pains in his shoulder in February. His presence will really be missed here, he has done a lot to build the community and advance the progression of Ka Pilina. He has touched a lot of lives and we will all miss him.
At Burning man we are going to have an altar at the Ka Pilina camp (DNA and 4:30)
where you can come and write on the wall with your goodbye messages to John and Jon (thanks Jennie and Geoff for putting that together). We are also going to have 2 remembrances at the tail end (8:30 PM) of our Friday sunset luau, one for Mango Jon Despacio and one for John Corbin. If you knew either one and want to say a few words you are invited to join in. Video of the remembrances and the messages from the altar will be sent
to the respective families.
We also have plans in the works to honor their memories with a couple of local projects. One is a scholarship program (to get people to the playa) and the other is an art pad project on the Big Island. More details on these and how you can contribute to them later. For now we are going to honor our two friends.
