Regarding the fund raiser - his fondest wish is to still go to burning man this year and have all four of his children there as well. My youngest sibling has said she will not be able to make it, but I and my two brothers plan on attending. Our one concern is making sure that he has the most comfortable accomodations possible, and his previous just won't do it (his van). We will likely be camping with Wayne at Hotwheelz camp since it will be close to center camp and Wayne can provide him with a "scooter" to get around if he needs it, which it's looking like he will. I was wondering if the funds are already earmarked for something, and if not, maybe they could be put towards renting a small RV for him to stay in. How did that go? What are the finds intended for? Some of you know me and some do not - My name is Wendi, and I am John's daughter (I live in Phoenix). I have been to Burning Man the last few years with my dad. Here is an update on his status: The cancer has metastasized to his bones and liver, but they are still unsure of where the primary cancer is coming from. During a PET/CT a couple weeks ago, his cancer-weakened arm was broken and he had surgery on Friday for that. As a result, his radiation and chemo have been delayed. Hopefully he will start those treatments next week. He would love to have visitors, so if any of you are in the bay area and can visit him please email me at pandora@egeekbme.com and I'll give you information on where he is. I am working on the possibility of bringing him here to Phoenix to stay with me since he doesn't have any family out there in CA. He is getting the best care possible at the VA in Palo Alto in the Bay Area which is associated with the Stanford Medical Center. They are still running tests to determine the extent of his cancer and the proper course of treatment. John is one of the 3 Burning Man Hawaii co-Regional Contacts and he is the Big Island Director for Ka Pilina. John has been instrumental in getting Rebirth off the ground and with building the local Burning Man community on the Big Island. John is a great friend to me and many other burners and friends out there. This all has taken a heavy toll on John. He is normally a very fun loving and carefree kind of guy but this has really gotten him down. John already is getting a lot of help from friends and family in the Bay Area but what he really can use is your moral support.
