Hello, Hawaii burners! My guy and I will be flying into Maui on the first of January and staying for about two weeks. Does anyone have any recommendations for camping and lower-cost lodging (couches for crashing or a spot to get a hot shower would be much appreciated)? We've got travel guides, but personal recommendations from fellow burners would be very helpful. Let us know if you have any tips on places to go, places to avoid, or favorite spots. We're also a little worried about camping in the rain on the east side and near Haleakala, so any idea of how torrential the weather is there right now would be great.
