I just started a yahoo webgroup called mauiburners@yahoogroups.com
It basically will be a way for people here in maui to stay in touch, or talk about ideas regarding burning man, current island events, or what have yous! Really want to meet more people here on maui, and stay in touch!
all you have to do to subscribe is send an email here, mauiburners-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
Once you have become a member of the group, easy to do, you send a message to mauiburners@yahoogroups.com and everyone who is a member of the group will recieve an email from you.
While living in Seattle a few years ago this is how a great majority of the Seattle community kept in contact, and it worked really well. I was able to meet many new wonderful people, and hear about events I might not normally have heard about!
Please, join the group, especially if you are on the island, and pass the word on to other friends who think they might like to stay in communication!
Aloha!

Re: Attention Maui Burners!
Mon, October 8, 2007 - 12:28 PMThank you for doing this but to be honest with you, we already have a discussion forum for Hawaii burners (including Maui burners), this very Tribe. We are putting the finishing touches on a new website that will have forums for each island and all the different groups involved, that should come online very soon.
We started off with Yahoo groups then we moved the discussion here to Tribe. We decided a while ago that separate forums hidden from each other is not a great way to bring burners together across the state. We will provide island forums on our new website for burners on each island to connect better, while burners on other islands will be aware of them and will be able to interact with them as well.
If Maui burners really want to get things moving on Maui they should work with Amanda (maui@kapilina.org) the Ka Pilina Maui Director, and hopefully soon Ben Holt will be joining her as co-Director. They are already holding meetings and meet-n-greets and they have big plans for the future.
Maui is much more independant than any other island in Hawaii, well maybe except for Kauai. Ka Pilina respects that and indeed our vision is for each island to have it's own separate identity, yet also work together on statewide projects. Our goal is to be ONE statewide family made up of individual parts that work together. I know working together is a radical idea but we are having a lot of success with it so far. And if you really want to get the ball rolling, join us, we can use the help and things will happen a lot faster that way.
